ok, so it's been a long time coming! here's the last few months in summed up! I had a child, or my wife did...Gavin Kramer - he has my wife's last name so he can't trade on all my fame and fortune...I want him to work in the coal mines and work his way up from a humble sharecropper's roots just like his dad...my days right now start at 6am and me and the boy go play some piano with him dangling from my chest...he seems to dig it. Time is a little more hetic, but life is good...this past weekend, I did a bunch of work on the new album, and I'm pretty excited about it. It was recorded in about 40 locations and is pretty nifty...I'm planning on getting out for some more touring this spring when the new album comes out. In the meantime, I'm still climbing obsessed...doing my first competition this weekend. Girls say I'm so skinny, which for a boy is an insult...I like to say I'm so lean...big diference. Skinny boys get their asses kicked, lean boys have not fat. see the distinction? Anyway, hope you're all well out there...thanks for all the nice messages from folks about the boy...he sends his love.

OK, so it's been awhile since I wrote. Here's the latest. I've been at home working on the new record, and climbing walls. Literally. I found a 50 foot indoor climbing wall nearby, and I'm totally into it. It's sort of a bizarre sport. You climb a wall for fun, then drop back to the bottom and do it again. There's an escalator right next to the wall. Seems sort of stupid, huh...yea, so I'm about to head out for a couple weeks again tomorrow and am psyched to try out some new tunes on yous...mkay, got's to pack. later for now.
take care!

yo.
The big new is that I'm doing some chilling and catching up on songwriting at home this month. Spring has finally hit chicago and I'm expecting it to stay for a week or two before it gets stupid hot. So here's more on the good things I do when I'm home. Joanna went a way for a couple days, so I decided to tear down the plaster on one wall and make a fancy "exposed brick" wall. Funny how that's fancy...my grandma sure wouldn't think so...anyway, I think the highlight was when I went to home depot to get wood to build a trim around it, but didn't have the car so took my bike. Imagine me on a bike, driving 2 miles with six 13 foot long pieces of wood literally duct taped to my back. They had to be secure, so some guy wrapped tape around my torso and neck for 5 minutes till the wood was actually an extension of my head. He kept looking around to see the jackass camera hiding somewhere, but alas, it was just my life. I rode home with this wooden rod leaning out in front of me like a mideval lance, trying not to flip over the handlebars...good times indeed...
and speaking of a lance, that reminds me...movie note: am I the only one who keeps whatching martin lawrence in black night over and over again thinking...wow, he's funny...I love that movie...I know, I have strange taste...I still quote Chris Rock in "I'm gonna get you sucka" saying "how much for just one rib?"...
I'll be out again hitting the bricks again (what the hell does that mean?) this summer and fall. see you soon!

So I´m home for a few days, and I´m watching the movie "Mr. Deeds"…an Adam Sandler classic…I´ve never seen this one, but I´m always fascinated by how much I like his movies…Waterboy…loved it…and someone actually just said "oooh, look at meeeee!" in the movie…that seals the deal…a classic! The movie looks really purple…that could be a movie effect, or it could actually be the TV…in fact, all the channels have a nice purple hew…may be time for a new set…
Ok, I´m heading back out tomorrow for a few more shows, then a few weeks at home to do some more writing and get ready to make the next record.
Lots luv,
Ak

I figured this deserved a journal entry. I´m at a rest area in Maryland on my way to DC. I had a little extra time, so I stopped to take a nap and chill. When I woke up from my nap, I went in to use the bathroom. When I came back out to the car, a guy (who had been using the urinal next to me) wandered over to my car. I opened the window and he asked me if I was from around here and asked me for directions. As I was getting out my map, he said "actually, I´m not interested in the directions, I´m interested in you…I want to suck your cock." The first thing I actually said was "I guess the map´s not really going to help you then"…then I had to say "sorry, I´m not interested," and he said "that´s too bad," lingered a little longer, and went back to his car and left. Good times…If only I was half as applealing to the girls as I am to the boys…and why don´t women do that? Wouldn´t that be refreshing if women walked up to men in rest areas and asked if they could blow them anonymously?…where´s the justice? Anyway, this is my first road trip since getting back to the US from Ireland, and all I gots say is it´s good to be home! It´s good to live in a country where the people aren´t so shy, ya know?
Ya know, now that I look around a little more, I´m starting to wonder if this is a special kind of rest area, if ya know what I mean…am I really that clueless? OK, this is definitely one of them "rest" areas…for example, does that young, extremely physically fit man really need to drive to a rest area to walk his small dog?…ok, enough resting. maybe it´s time to get going…
lotsa love,
ak

So I'm chilling on an off day at my parents house in nyc. I've been having a blast the last week on the road with home dawg Matt Nathanson, playing mostly college shows...one of the shows took place in a huge gym, that featured the running bungie game and cotton candy...for those unfamiliar with the bungie thing, you basically tie yourself to a wall, then run as fast as you can in the other direction until the bungie finally streches and slings you backwards into the wall, knocking you off your feet, snapping your neck and causing minor but somehow amusing injuries...great fun...probably thought up by the same person who came up with the run-and-throw-yourself-at-a-wall-covered-in-velcro-game...yea...I head home in a day or so, then off to Ireland for a couple weeks of vacation with ma laday, then back for more touring...good times, it's been a fun tour...I've gotten a great response from peeps for my new political song "as good as we get," and promise to get a live mp3 of it up on the site as soon as I find one. lotsa luv.

yo from new hampshire.
new website went up today. this makes me happy. my homie dave etler did a kick ass job...
I'm playing at a boarding school in new hampshire today and tomorrow and I'm staying in this old boarding house on campus. ok, there's no one else staying in the house - I've checked several times - but there's definitely something here...yup, the house is haunted. It sounds like the toilets are flushing or someone's taking a shower, or running the water...I had just rationalized it away when someone confirmed that yup, all these houses are haunted...great...so I'm sitting in a computer room on campus, scared to go back now...ok, but at least it seems like a pretty harmless ghost...just really into hygene. A very clean ghost. I think as long as we don't have to like meet on the stairs at 4am in some freaky I-can-see-dead-people sort of way, I think I'm ok with it...he can just handle his bitniz, and I'll handle mine and we'll be cool. Yea...great. Think Casper...he was cool, right? Now let's see, what else can I find to do besides go back?...
